We had so much fun at Jodie & Daniel’s wedding – mainly due to the fact we were lucky enough to be in the company of couple that knows how to have real fun together! An idyllic pastoral setting, car-boot-loads of personality and spunk, and plenty of raw emotion… this wedding gave us serious warm fuzzies!
We met Daniel at his house in Geelong. He was not so much grappling with any pre-wedding nerves as he was grappling with his adorable black labrador who simply did not want to wear his special doggy bow-tie. Canine dressing dealt with, it was time for Daniel to get scrubbed up for his wedding day! Daniel wore brown leather shoes, a charcoal suit with a slimline tie in blue paisley, and a red pocket kerchief – very “dapper meets rock’n’roll cool”!
Jodie was preparing at an Airbnb just down the road, and we were able to capture the delivery of her fresh flowers from Rachelle at The Posie Place. Her bouquet was a beautifully balanced mix of pink, peach, and white roses surrounded by small purple blossoms and olive leaves.
Jodie wore a Q’nique gown from Ebrace Bridal Boutique in Geelong. It had a light ivory lace over lace mesh, with a pearl satin lining, in a classic A-line cut. Vicky from Salon Meraki styled Jodie’s hair into a retro half-updo with curls framing her face. She had a dark and dusky lip with a winged eyeliner to complete her vintage/boho-inspired look.
Daniel & Jodie chose to have their First Look double as an intimate “pseudo-ceremony” before the main event – kind of like a final training run without the noise and hubbub that can often overwhelm nervous couples! Then it was off to Oakdene Vineyards for the ceremony proper. Daniel drove himself and Luke, his brother up to the vineyard in Daniel’s own vintage white Holden. Jodie arrived in Daniel’s other vintage car, a blue and white Chevrolet Bel-Air. They were married right on the vineyard, under an arbour of purple and white wisteria by Tracey O’Connor; whose sweet, warm and genuine words helped the couple feel instantly present and at ease.
After a quick moment for hugs and congratulations from their guests, Jodie & Daniel spent some time in the grounds of Oakdene to take photos with just the two of them. They chatted and joked, totally at ease in each others company – we love seeing this kind of bond between two people!
Their reception was held at Truffleduck’s Balmoral venue which boasts a flexible inside-outside layout, with plenty of natural light and ample room for a killer dancefloor! Their DJ/MC welcomed them into the space, where it was time for speeches. Daniel’s speech in particular, had us all wiping away happy tears.
Finally, as the sun began to set over the Balmoral Peninsula, Jodie & Daniel once again hopped into the Holden and staged a mock roadside breakdown for a themed photoshoot. It was so much fun, and they were both such good actors that it had us wondering if they were drawing on past experience to fuel their scene! Whatever the reason, scripted or not, we had such a blast capturing every part of this quirky couple’s loec-filled day.
Have a watch of their highlight film, and try not to smile!
Thanks to everyone that we had the pleasure of working with, and a final congratulations to the newlyweds!
